About the Role
The AI and Data Engineer will design, build, and maintain the data infrastructures and pipelines that power IBM iX’s AI and machine learning initiatives. The role supports scalable AI workflows and enables the deployment of models into production, working closely with data scientists and other stakeholders.
This full-time position is based in one of IBM iX’s Austrian offices in Vienna, Wels, or Graz, with opportunities to work in a hybrid model.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable data pipelines and infrastructures to support AI and ML initiatives
- Ensure data accessibility, reliability, and quality, preparing datasets for analysis and model development
- Collaborate with data scientists and stakeholders to understand requirements and optimize AI model workflows
- Integrate AI models into production systems to ensure efficient, seamless operations
- Monitor and maintain data systems, troubleshoot performance issues, and continuously improve processes
Required Skills
- Experience in data engineering, AI, or related fields with hands-on experience building data pipelines and infrastructures
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala; knowledge of frameworks like Apache Spark or Hadoop is an advantage
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) and database systems (SQL/NoSQL)
- Basic understanding of machine learning workflows and AI model deployment processes
- Knowledge of data modeling concepts for AI and analytics, e.g., Data Vault 2.0 or Data Mesh
- Experience working in agile environments and adapting to changing requirements
- Understanding of security protocols and best practices to ensure data integrity and privacy
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to collaborate across teams
- Excellent English skills (C1 level); German language skills are a plus
