About the Role
The DevOps Engineer role in Berlin is responsible for building, managing, and optimizing development environments, deployments, and containerized applications while maintaining high quality and strict data protection standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and configure local development environments using k3d
- Ensure fast and smooth deployments across all internal stages and pipelines
- Advise on containerization of modern web applications (microservices) and their operation
- Standardize and automate build, test, and deployment processes with a focus on quality and data protection
- Define relevant metrics for application monitoring in collaboration with SRE teams
- Deploy applications using custom Helm charts
- Debug applications and provide 3rd level support
Requirements
- Technical degree in Computer Science or comparable IT training (e.g., IT specialist)
- Expertise with Docker, Kubernetes (k3d and OpenShift), and Helm charts
- Experience with logging (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana) and monitoring (Prometheus, Grafana)
- Programming skills in Java, JavaScript, Lua, Scala; scripting in Shell, Bash, Python; API design (REST, Messaging, rabbitMQ)
- Experience with Postgres and S3 in microservice architectures
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and deployment of large software applications, preferably with GitLab
- Knowledge of Linux systems (preferably RedHat) and network protocols in the context of Apisix and Myra
- Teamwork, communication skills (English and at least B2 German), and systematic, goal-oriented, independent working style
