About the Role

The Tech Lead for Global-e’s Logistics team guides technical direction, drives high-quality scalable solutions, and works hands-on within an API-first microservice architecture built with Scala, Kubernetes, and AWS. This role impacts merchants and shoppers worldwide by optimizing global logistics and cross-border e-commerce operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver Features: Lead the design and development of logistics (fulfillment, labels, tracking) and order management capabilities
  • Set Direction: Define and communicate architecture ensuring scalability, reliability, and maintainability
  • Contribute Hands-On: Write high-quality Scala code, review PRs, debug, and optimize performance
  • Raise Standards: Drive clean code practices, testing, and observability across the team
  • Own Operations: Monitor performance, manage incidents, and address technical debt with a long-term perspective
  • Enable Growth: Introduce features, tools, and infrastructure to support scaling and reliability
  • Collaborate: Align priorities with product teams and stakeholders to deliver business outcomes
  • Support: Guide the team, unblock issues, and foster a learning culture

Requirements

  • 4+ years building and operating large-scale, customer-facing applications; experience in e-commerce, fintech, or SaaS is a plus
  • Proven experience as a Tech Lead driving engineering efforts or projects
  • Strong background in distributed systems, microservices, and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
  • Experience with monitoring, incident response, and SLAs
  • Expertise in database optimization and scaling complex systems
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies, CI/CD, and testing frameworks
  • Technical leader with strong decision-making and alignment skills
  • Hands-on contributor comfortable with coding and debugging
  • Problem solver capable of turning complexity into practical solutions
  • Collaborative, adaptable, and able to thrive in shifting priorities
