About the Role
The Head of Data Engineering will define the architecture and scalability of Holafly’s data ecosystem, enabling real-time insights that power global operations. This role bridges infrastructure and analytics, driving data-driven decision-making and directly impacting millions of travellers.
Responsibilities
- Design and evolve a scalable, world-class data architecture to support rapid global expansion
- Implement robust CI/CD practices and version control for all data pipelines
- Ensure reliability, security, and quality of data across all platforms
- Support mission-critical ML models and business analytics
- Drive strategic technology choices, selecting tools and cloud platforms to maintain a competitive edge
- Build and mentor high-performing data engineering squads, fostering technical ownership
- Collaborate with cross-functional leaders to translate complex business requirements into scalable solutions
Qualifications
- Deep expertise in data management, data warehousing, big data technologies, and cloud infrastructure
- 3+ years of experience managing and leading engineering teams
- 5+ years of proficiency in Python, Java, or Scala for complex data engineering
- Extensive experience with relational and NoSQL databases at scale
- Proven technical leadership in high-growth or scale-up environments
- Specific expertise with Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Demonstrated ability to scale engineering teams and cultivate a culture of ownership
- Advanced degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) in Computer Science or Engineering is a plus
