About the Role
The Scala Software Developer will design, develop, and maintain high-quality backend software solutions, collaborating with cross-functional teams to align technical implementation with business goals. The role emphasizes scalability, performance, and reliability while mentoring junior developers and participating in peer reviews to maintain high code standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of backend software applications
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications
- Write, test, debug, and maintain high-quality code in Scala, Java, and related technologies
- Optimize SQL queries and manage database interactions for efficient data processing
- Maintain and improve existing codebases while ensuring adherence to best practices
- Mentor junior developers and provide guidance to enhance team capabilities
- Participate in CI/CD and DevOps practices within Agile development environments
Requirements
- 6+ years of software development experience
- 3+ years of experience building backend solutions with Scala and Java
- 3+ years working with SQL databases, including query optimization
- 3+ years using cloud platforms and services (AWS, Azure, and/or GCP)
- Experience delivering software in modern engineering environments using CI/CD and DevOps practices
- Ability to operate effectively within Agile methodologies
- Combined equivalent experience through education, work, or military service considered
