About the Role
Mercor is seeking an Expert Software Engineer specializing in languages such as Scala, COBOL, ABAP, Verilog, Fortran, or Slang. The role is a remote, contract-based position focused on technical evaluation work for AI-related projects. It involves analyzing complex code scenarios and producing structured written assessments based on domain expertise.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate complex technical tasks using expertise in Scala, COBOL, ABAP, Verilog, Fortran, or Slang
- Review and assess code-level scenarios for correctness and adherence to best practices
- Analyze technical outputs and evaluate idiomatic usage and ecosystem conventions
- Provide structured written explanations of technical judgments
- Complete time-bound evaluation tasks independently and asynchronously
Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional or research experience in one or more of the listed languages (Scala, COBOL, ABAP, Verilog, Fortran, or Slang)
- Experience working in production, enterprise, or research environments
- Ability to clearly explain technical reasoning in written form
Preferred Skills
- Experience with technologies such as Apache Spark, Akka, Cats, ZIO, JCL, CICS, VSAM, DB2
- Experience with enterprise systems such as BAPIs, BADIs, and Enhancement Spots
- Knowledge of hardware design tools such as Vivado, Quartus, Synopsys, and Cadence
- Familiarity with parallel computing and graphics frameworks such as MPI, OpenMP, DirectX, Vulkan, CUDA, or NVIDIA Falcor
Compensation
- Hourly contractor role
- Compensation ranging from $120 to $200 per hour
