About the Role
A Senior Scala Developer position is available within an engineering team focused on building scalable, high-performance backend systems. The role involves designing and maintaining distributed applications, working closely with cross-functional teams, and contributing to architectural and technical decisions.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain backend services and distributed systems using Scala.
- Build scalable, resilient, and high-performance applications.
- Collaborate with Product Owners, Architects, QA Engineers, and DevOps teams to deliver technical solutions.
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code aligned with industry best practices.
- Participate in architecture discussions and contribute to technical decision-making.
- Optimize application performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Troubleshoot production issues and implement sustainable solutions.
- Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback.
- Mentor junior and mid-level developers and support continuous learning.
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and automation initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with security, coding, and quality standards.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional software development experience.
- At least 3 years of hands-on experience with Scala development.
- Strong knowledge of functional programming and the Scala ecosystem.
- Experience with frameworks such as Akka, Pekko, Cats, ZIO, or similar.
- Solid understanding of RESTful APIs and microservices architecture.
- Experience with relational and NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL, Cassandra, or MongoDB.
- Knowledge of event-driven architectures and messaging systems such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
- Strong understanding of Git, CI/CD pipelines, and Agile methodologies.
- Experience with unit, integration, and automated testing.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Fluent English, both written and spoken.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Spark or other big data technologies.
- Knowledge of Terraform or Infrastructure as Code.
- Experience with observability tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, ELK, or Splunk.
- Experience working in highly available, mission-critical systems.
- Exposure to Domain-Driven Design (DDD) and Event Sourcing.
