About the Role
A Senior Scala Engineer position is available for professionals with 8 to 12 years of experience in software engineering. The role focuses on developing and optimizing data engineering applications using modern big data technologies while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, cloud-based solutions.
Responsibilities
- Develop, test, troubleshoot, debug, and enhance applications using Spark, PySpark, Scala, Pandas, Databricks, Airflow, and SQL.
- Deploy application components through CI/CD pipelines.
- Build utilities for monitoring systems and automating repetitive tasks.
- Collaborate with Agile cross-functional teams, including operations, infrastructure, technical operations, and clients.
- Work with Data Science teams to productionize machine learning models.
- Participate in a rotational support schedule to resolve customer issues and deploy bug fixes.
Requirements
- 8 to 12 years of software engineering experience.
- Strong experience with big data technologies including Spark, PySpark, Scala, Pandas, Databricks, Airflow, and SQL.
- Experience working with cloud platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure.
- Experience optimizing the performance of Spark workloads.
- Familiarity with DevOps technologies such as GitHub, Kubernetes, Jenkins, and Docker.
- Knowledge of relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL.
- Excellent English communication skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
