About the Role

The Scala/Full-Stack Engineer role focuses on building a scalable Data Platform on the AWS ecosystem, integrating distributed Spark processing with Angular-based front-end applications. The position involves developing microservices, GraphQL APIs, and large-scale data pipelines while ensuring secure, cloud-native solutions. Engineers collaborate in value stream teams across software, data, and infrastructure disciplines to solve complex technical challenges at petabyte-scale data environments.

Key responsibilities

  • Supporting integration of Scala-based GraphQL services with distributed Spark processing and Angular front-end interfaces.
  • Developing core services for a petabyte-scale Apache Iceberg data lake on AWS.
  • Building and maintaining GraphQL APIs for high-throughput data access.
  • Implementing cloud-native development standards, including Containers, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines via GitHub.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver robust, scalable, and resilient solutions.
  • Contributing to Angular UI development where necessary.
  • Implementing and optimizing large-scale data processing pipelines (Athena, Spark).

Requirements

  • Expert-level Scala programming and backend development.
  • Experience designing and implementing GraphQL services.
  • Strong cloud-native engineering experience with AWS, Kubernetes, and Containers.
  • Expertise in distributed data processing using Spark or similar frameworks.
  • Working knowledge of Angular for full-stack contributions.

Nice to Have

  • Building large-scale production data platforms.
  • Familiarity with Apache Iceberg, AWS Athena, or similar technologies.
