About the Role
Orion Innovation is seeking a Lead Scala Developer to support microservices development and contribute to NextGen transformation and professional services projects. The role involves developing Scala-based applications, implementing microservices architectures, collaborating with technical teams, and delivering solutions within established project timelines.
Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver microservices using Scala.
- Contribute to NextGen transformation and professional services projects.
- Follow established development processes and standards.
- Report project status and proactively communicate issues to technical leadership.
- Take ownership of assigned tasks and deliverables to meet project schedules.
- Support a collaborative team environment and help resolve technical or project-related challenges.
- Recommend and implement technical solutions.
- Design and develop microservices independently.
- Participate in test-driven development and software quality practices.
Requirements
- 4-8 years of recent hands-on experience with Scala.
- Hands-on experience with the Akka Framework.
- Good understanding of Akka Streams.
- Experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD).
- Knowledge of message brokers.
- Experience designing and developing microservices.
- Understanding of event-driven microservices architecture.
- Experience with gRPC Protocol and Protocol Buffers.
- Hands-on experience with Docker.
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes.
- Awareness of cloud-native applications.
- Experience using Jira, Confluence, Ansible, and Terraform.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms, preferably AWS, including IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS services.
- Experience with scripting languages such as Batch and Bash.
- Experience with Python is a plus.
- Knowledge of integration testing, unit testing, and Behavior-Driven Development (BDD).
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Good communication skills.
Nice to Have
- Experience integrating with third-party applications.
- Knowledge of Agile methodologies.
- Understanding of configuration management.
- Experience in the financial industry and core banking integrations.
