About the Role
The Scala Developer will work in a hybrid setup in Toronto, Ontario, supporting distributed application development and cloud-based solutions. The role focuses on building and optimizing high-performance systems using Spark and Scala while collaborating with a global team.
Responsibilities
- Develop distributed applications using Spark with Scala (Java experience is also applicable)
- Work with cloud technologies, preferably Azure and Databricks
- Design and optimize database solutions using SQL on platforms such as DB2, Teradata, or Snowflake
- Contribute to Python-based components as needed
- Support analytics and visualization workflows; experience with Power BI or Angular is a plus
- Collaborate effectively with a global team and deliver solutions within strict timelines
- Apply problem-solving and analytical skills to complex technical challenges
Required Skills
- 4–8 years of experience in distributed application development
- Strong proficiency in Scala (or Java) for production workloads
- Experience with Apache Spark (batch and/or streaming)
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, preferably Azure and Databricks
- Advanced SQL skills and experience with relational/analytical databases
- Knowledge of Python; Power BI and Angular are desirable
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills

- Prior experience in hybrid or distributed team environments
- Familiarity with enterprise-scale projects and high-performance data platforms
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and work within structured project timelines
