About the Role
The Scala Developer will join a hybrid team in Montreal, QC, on a 6+ month contract. The role focuses on developing distributed applications using Spark and Scala, supporting cloud-based solutions, and contributing to high-performance data pipelines.
Responsibilities
- Develop distributed applications using Apache Spark and Scala
- Work with cloud technologies, preferably Azure and Databricks
- Build and optimize database solutions using SQL on platforms such as DB2, Teradata, or Snowflake
- Contribute to Python and Java-based components as needed
- Collaborate with a global team to deliver solutions within strict timelines
- Support analytics and visualization workflows, optionally leveraging Power BI or Angular
Required Skills
- 4–8 years of experience in distributed application development
- Strong proficiency in Scala and Apache Spark (7+ years recommended)
- Experience with cloud platforms (Azure and Databricks preferred)
- Solid understanding of SQL and relational/analytical databases
- Knowledge of Python; experience with Java is a plus
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a global, hybrid team
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Power BI and Angular
- Advanced expertise in distributed systems (5+ years)
- 9+ years of overall application development experience
