About the Role

MC Engineering is seeking a Scala Engineer – React to join an international project for one of the leading television broadcasters in the United Kingdom. The role involves contributing to both Business-as-Usual (BAU) activities and a strategic Media Management Transformation program.

The successful candidate will develop and enhance web applications built with Scala and React, support operational activities, and contribute to new features and modernization initiatives. The position requires collaboration within distributed Agile teams working on microservices, APIs, and CI/CD pipelines. This is a full-time, fully remote role aligned with the UK time zone.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and enhance web applications using Scala and React.
  • Support Business-as-Usual (BAU) activities and ongoing application maintenance.
  • Contribute to the implementation of new features and modernization initiatives.
  • Develop REST APIs and microservices-based solutions.
  • Participate in the development and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines.
  • Collaborate with distributed international Agile teams.
  • Work closely with international colleagues on innovative software projects.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of software development experience.
  • Strong experience with Scala as the primary programming language.
  • Solid frontend development experience using React.
  • Experience working in Agile teams.
  • Ability to support both Business-as-Usual (BAU) activities and software enhancement projects.
  • Good knowledge of REST APIs, microservices architecture, and CI/CD practices.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience collaborating with distributed teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proactive approach and the ability to manage tasks independently.
  • Commitment to quality and continuous improvement.
  • Fluent English proficiency (C1).
  • Availability to work full-time according to the UK time zone.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in the Media, Broadcasting, OTT, Content Management, or Digital Media sectors.
