About the Role
Vandebron is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join its engineering team. The role involves maintaining the existing Scala/ZIO backend platform while contributing to the development of next-generation services built with Kotlin and Spring Boot. The engineer will work with cross-functional teams to design scalable backend solutions that support the company’s energy and flexibility platforms.
Responsibilities
- Design and deliver backend solutions that support energy flexibility and trading activities.
- Maintain backend services built with Scala and ZIO.
- Develop new microservices using Kotlin and Spring Boot.
- Write clean, efficient, maintainable, and well-documented code.
- Participate in all stages of the software development lifecycle, including testing, code reviews, and quality assurance.
- Collaborate with engineers, designers, and product stakeholders.
- Contribute to engineering knowledge sharing and mentor team members through code reviews and technical discussions.
- Continuously improve technical knowledge and stay informed about industry developments.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a senior software engineering role developing Scala or Kotlin services.
- Experience with, or strong interest in, functional programming and API design.
- Product-oriented mindset with a focus on end-user experience.
- Experience working in a product-based company and cross-functional teams.
- Commitment to writing reliable, clean, and maintainable code.
- Interest in continuous learning and adopting new technologies.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience using observability tools and product metrics to evaluate software performance.
