About the Role
A Senior / Lead Scala Developer is required for a 3-month contract starting immediately. The role is highly hands-on and combines software engineering responsibilities with technical leadership, including guiding development standards and supporting delivery teams in a public sector context.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain robust Scala applications using Test-Driven Development (TDD) practices.
- Define and uphold engineering standards across the development team.
- Mentor and support other developers within the team.
- Collaborate with stakeholders and translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
- Manage expectations and communication across project delivery.
- Contribute to architectural decisions and technical direction.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Senior or Lead Scala Developer.
- Strong experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD) and disciplined engineering practices.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Proven ability to set technical standards and mentor development teams.
- Ability to work effectively in fast-paced, short-notice environments.
- Eligibility for BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) clearance.
