About the Role

This is a 10-month hybrid contract role (4 days onsite per week) offering up to $96/hr on W2, depending on experience. Candidates must be U.S. Green Card holders, U.S. Citizens, or hold valid EADs (excluding OPT, CPT, and H1B). C2C, 1099, or subcontract arrangements are not accepted.

Responsibilities

  • Build deterministic attribution logic over clickstream and user browse event data
  • Develop Scala-based functional programming solutions to model user state transitions and event pathways
  • Use Spark to process large-scale datasets and prepare data for application-level processing
  • Contribute to gold and silver data layers supporting analytics and recommendation systems
  • Participate in RFC design processes, including data modeling, integration testing, and documentation
  • Deliver high-quality, production-grade code in a collaborative engineering environment

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of hands-on data engineering or backend engineering experience
  • Strong coding fundamentals with ability to solve problems in live coding interviews
  • Experience working with high-volume, event-driven data systems
  • Understanding of medallion architecture, SCD concepts, and non-summable metrics
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field preferred (or equivalent experience)

Must Have

  • Strong Scala with functional programming experience (building application-level logic over large datasets)
  • Apache Spark in production environments
  • Advanced SQL on large datasets (complex joins, window functions, aggregations)
  • Experience building attribution logic or event-based user journey modeling over clickstream or event data
  • Databricks experience in production environments

Nice to Have

  • Experience with attribution modeling in media, ads, or commerce environments
  • Background in backend engineering with Scala
  • Experience supporting recommendation or personalization systems
