About the Role
OneDoc is looking for a Senior Scala Software Engineer to join its engineering team in Geneva or Lausanne. The role focuses on designing and developing scalable backend systems, maintaining high engineering standards, mentoring other developers, and contributing to the long-term evolution of the company’s backend architecture. This is a full-time hybrid position.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable backend services using Scala 3.
- Develop high-performance, reliable, and maintainable backend systems.
- Write clean, well-structured code and participate in code reviews.
- Contribute to technical decisions while balancing long-term maintainability and delivery goals.
- Mentor other engineers and support team development.
- Participate in hiring activities.
- Collaborate with product, design, and leadership teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Improve backend development practices, tools, and processes.
- Contribute to a collaborative engineering culture focused on continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Computer Science or an equivalent field.
- At least 4 years of software engineering experience.
- Strong proficiency in Scala.
- Experience developing RESTful APIs.
- Strong knowledge of relational databases, SQL, and database concepts such as transactions and indexes.
- Experience with unit and integration testing frameworks.
- Professional proficiency in English.
- Valid work permit for Switzerland.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience with CI tools.
- Knowledge of French and/or German.
- Commitment to clean code and software development best practices.
