About the Role
The position is for a Java/Scala Developer based in Luxembourg. The role involves designing and developing robust backend services, contributing to architectural decisions, and supporting the evolution of modern event-driven systems. The developer works closely with product and technical teams to deliver scalable APIs and reliable applications in a JVM-based ecosystem.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services
- Participate in architecture decisions and promote event-driven approaches
- Develop and evolve high-performance, well-documented APIs
- Ensure code quality through automated testing (unit, integration) and engineering best practices
- Contribute to CI/CD pipeline implementation and improvement
- Monitor applications using logs, metrics, and alerting to ensure reliability
- Collaborate with product and technical teams to define and deliver suitable solutions
- Contribute to continuous improvement of development processes and practices
- Support and mentor other developers, sharing knowledge within the team
- Explore and integrate AI-based solutions to improve software development processes
Requirements
- Proven experience in backend development, ideally Java or Scala in a JVM environment
- Strong understanding of distributed architectures and event-driven systems (Kafka or similar)
- Experience with modern backend frameworks such as Spring Boot, Play, Akka/Pekko, or equivalents
- Solid knowledge of relational databases (SQL) and experience with NoSQL databases
- Strong focus on software quality, testing, and DevOps practices
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within a team
- Strong communication skills, collaborative mindset, and openness to feedback
- Curiosity and interest in business and technical challenges
- Interest in innovation, particularly AI applied to software development
