About the Role
Whitehall Resources is seeking a Scala Engineer for a client based in Telford. The role involves working as part of a multidisciplinary Agile team to develop, deploy, and support Scala Play microservices. The successful candidate will collaborate with user researchers, designers, and other technical specialists throughout the software development lifecycle while contributing to DevOps practices and continuous service improvement.
Please note that this position requires attendance onsite in Telford 2 days per week and falls inside IR35.
Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver user stories as part of a multidisciplinary Agile team.
- Build, deploy, and support Scala Play microservices.
- Collaborate with user researchers, designers, and other team members throughout the development process.
- Apply established software development practices, including Test-Driven Development (TDD) and pair programming.
- Participate in configuring, deploying, and monitoring applications using industry-standard tools.
- Contribute to DevOps activities across all stages of service delivery.
- Share knowledge and ideas within technical communities to support continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Experience with Scala.
- Experience using the Play Framework.
- Knowledge of unit testing and integration testing.
- Experience with cloud-based infrastructure is desirable.
- Understanding of application security principles.
- Knowledge of continuous integration and continuous delivery practices.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Understanding of business analysis, quality assurance, application design, and software architecture.
- Ability to work effectively in an Agile, collaborative environment.
