About the Role
RED Global is seeking a Scala Engineer for a remote contract opportunity. The role involves designing, developing, and maintaining backend applications using Scala, building modern user interfaces with React, and supporting business-critical production systems. The successful candidate will contribute to the Media Management Transformation Programme while collaborating with cross-functional teams throughout the software development lifecycle.
The position is a 12-month contract with the possibility of extension, requiring full-time availability and English language proficiency.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain high-quality applications using Scala as the primary backend technology.
- Develop modern user interfaces using React.
- Support and maintain business-critical production systems as part of BAU activities.
- Deliver new features and enhancements within the Media Management Transformation Programme.
- Build and integrate RESTful APIs and microservices.
- Collaborate with Product Owners, Architects, QA Engineers, and DevOps teams throughout the development lifecycle.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
- Troubleshoot and optimize application performance, reliability, and scalability.
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and engineering best practices.
Requirements
- Experience developing backend applications using Scala.

- Ability to support production systems and troubleshoot technical issues.
- Experience working in Agile development environments.
