About the Role
Swif.ai is seeking a Backend Engineer with Scala or Java expertise to design, develop, and optimize high-performance backend systems. The role involves building scalable applications, utilizing AI-assisted development tools, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and improving the reliability and performance of production systems in a fast-paced startup environment.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and optimize backend systems using Scala or Java.
- Build clean, testable, and efficient code following best practices for scalability and reliability.
- Utilize AI-powered development tools such as Windsurf, Cursor, or similar solutions.
- Collaborate with product managers, data scientists, and frontend engineers to deliver end-to-end solutions.
- Investigate and resolve issues in production environments.
- Identify performance bottlenecks and implement system improvements.
- Contribute to an Agile development environment and adapt to changing priorities.
Requirements
- Strong proficiency in Scala or Java.
- Understanding of functional or object-oriented programming principles.
- Knowledge of concurrency and distributed systems.
- Experience with or willingness to learn AI-assisted coding tools such as Windsurf, Cursor, or similar.
- Strong understanding of algorithms, data structures, and system design.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced startup environment.
- Willingness to work a 6-day work schedule.
