About the Role
Swan is seeking a Software Engineer to join its Payment team. The role involves contributing to the development of banking services within a collaborative engineering organization that includes software developers, infrastructure engineers, DevOps, QA, and security specialists. The successful candidate will work on backend systems, help design API-driven banking solutions, improve system performance, and ensure compliance with architectural standards and automated testing practices.
The position follows a hybrid work model with at least three days per month in the company’s Paris office.
Responsibilities
- Take technical responsibility for one or more projects.
- Design and develop banking services in collaboration with the product team.
- Build and improve API-based banking solutions.
- Enhance the performance and scalability of systems handling increasing workloads.
- Ensure compliance with architecture guidelines and automated testing standards.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of backend systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams in a regulated environment.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience as a Software Developer.
- Strong knowledge of backend development using Scala and TypeScript.
- Experience optimizing backend performance, observability, and SQL queries.
- Experience with automated testing and CI/CD practices.
- Exposure to distributed systems or microservices architectures.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English.
- Interest in continuous learning and keeping up with new technologies.
- Passion for functional programming or open-source technologies is a plus.
