About the Role
A Scala/Spark Developer is sought to join a team working on one of the world’s largest Big Data platforms focused on financial crime detection and prevention.
The position is based in Poland with a hybrid work model requiring 6 office days per month in Kraków. It is available as a full-time B2B contract or employment contract.
The successful candidate will contribute to a solution built with Artificial Intelligence (AI), Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and Big Data technologies. The platform is designed to support investigators, intelligence analysts, and data scientists in identifying financial crime risks. The role is part of an international Agile Scrum team of more than 150 specialists located in Poland, the UK, and China.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop data pipelines on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) using Scala and Apache Spark.
- Analyze and process data within a large-scale Data Lake.
- Develop and execute tests using Apache Airflow.
- Maintain and improve existing code through testing, refactoring, and bug fixing.
- Collaborate with software engineers and stakeholders across international teams.
- Participate in the full software development lifecycle, from planning through production deployment.
- Support Product Owners by refining technical requirements and backlog items.
- Share knowledge and contribute to team development.
- Work within an Agile Scrum environment and help improve team processes.
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of Scala and Apache Spark at a senior mid-level.
- Experience using GitHub.
- Basic knowledge of Python and Apache Airflow.
- Familiarity with Jira and Confluence.
- Experience working in a Scrum environment.
- Good English communication skills.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Knowledge of JUnit, TDD, or BDD.
- Experience with Jenkins.
- Understanding of Clean Code, SOLID, KISS, DRY principles, and design patterns.
- Experience with Elasticsearch.
- Hands-on experience with GCP, AWS, or Azure.
- Secure Code Warrior certifications.
