About the Role
Cotiviti is seeking a Software Engineer to design and develop software applications and reusable components for its product suite. The Software Engineer will follow established coding standards and technical designs while collaborating with Senior Developers, QA specialists, Product Owners, Project Managers, and other stakeholders.
The role focuses on developing healthcare analytics applications that help identify performance improvement opportunities and deliver value to clients.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop high-quality, maintainable software modules for the Cotiviti product suite.
- Conduct unit and integration testing using appropriate methodologies and techniques.
- Analyze requirements and specifications and prepare detailed implementation designs.
- Investigate and resolve software issues reported by internal or external customers.
- Maintain current knowledge of technologies selected for integration into the Cotiviti product suite.
- Record, store, maintain, and manage information in written and electronic formats.
- Review proposed software engineering solutions to ensure alignment with best practices.
- Mentor team members in software engineering methods and techniques.
- Complete responsibilities outlined during annual performance reviews and goal-setting processes.
- Complete special projects and other assigned duties.
- Perform responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- At least 3 years of software development experience using Java or Scala.
- At least 3 years of experience with microservices and the Spring Framework.
- At least 3 years of experience with web services and RESTful API development.
- At least 3 years of experience with SQL, NoSQL, and databases.
- At least 3 years of experience with distributed or cluster computing concepts and cloud-native applications.
- At least 3 years of experience with container technologies and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes.
- At least 3 years of experience with Kafka stream processing tools, including Kafka Streams and KSQL.
- At least 3 years of experience designing and developing applications on AWS, GCP, or similar cloud platforms.
- Experience working with Spark applications is preferred.
- At least 2 years of experience designing, building, and delivering production software while using AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Copilot, or Cursor throughout architecture, implementation, testing, and code review.
- Ability to retain full responsibility for code quality, correctness, and system design decisions when using AI coding tools.
- Ability to deliver project requirements within estimated timelines in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Ability to interpret data, think critically, make timely decisions, maintain focus, and assess the accuracy and completeness of assigned work.
